Extensive Martial Arts Background

Born in Jacareí, São Paulo, Brazil, Neves began practicing BJJ at the age of eight. After relocating to Rio de Janeiro and later returning to his hometown, he expanded his training to include judo. His path led him to train under Professor Marcelo Siqueira, a student of Master Luiz Dagmar of the Careca-Atos BJJ team.

Seeking to elevate his skills, Neves traveled across Brazil to train with a range of elite athletes. In 2013, after years of dedication, he earned his black belt and entered the world of MMA, making his professional debut just five months into training. His MMA career was marked by early success, eventually leading him back to Jiu Jitsu as a coach and competitor.

Transition to the United States and Coaching Success

Neves moved to the United States in 2018, where he continued to compete professionally before retiring from MMA to focus exclusively on coaching. His transition into coaching proved successful, with a roster that includes high-profile fighters such as Raoni Barcellos, Anderson Silva, Ronaldo “Jacaré,” Hannah Goldy, Phillip Rowe, Lyoto Machida, Warlley Alves, Alan Nuguete, Lucas Alexander, and Sean “Sugar” O’Malley.

Neves has also produced multiple champions in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu across various belt levels. Most recently, his students claimed titles at the 2025 International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Pan American Championships, held at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida.

Commitment to Teaching and Competition

With championship credentials in both the IBJJF and the Campeonato Brasileiro de Jiu Jitsu (CBJJE), Neves is a recognized figure in the global BJJ and MMA communities. At 39, he continues to compete in superfights while dedicating more of his time to developing students on and off the mat.

“Teaching is what I love,” Neves said. “This next chapter with Team Randori is something I’m truly excited about.”

Neves will relocate to Annapolis with his family in the coming weeks as he begins his role as head instructor at the academy.
