The PR Bazaar was founded in 2003 by community journalist Wendi Winters, who sought to create a platform for nonprofits and small business owners to connect directly with media outlets. Winters was among the five Capital Gazette staff members who were killed in the 2018 newsroom attack. The Chesapeake Chapter of PRSA continues to honor her legacy through this event.

A portion of the proceeds from the 2025 PR Bazaar will go to the Wendi Winters Memorial Foundation to support DC Theatre Arts community reporters and journalists, as requested by Winters’ family.

Brie Jackson, a Washington, DC-based correspondent with more than 15 years of experience reporting for NBC News, MSNBC, and CNBC, will be the keynote speaker.

Panelists will represent television, print, digital media, social media, and communications experts from nonprofit and small business sectors.
