On November 30, 2022, at approximately 3:30 pm, officers responded to the 100 block of Main Street for an individual who failed to pay his tab. When police arrived, the suspect had fled the establishment on foot. Employees said he had consumed two alcoholic beverages totaling $23.98 and left without paying. Officers located him sitting on the business step on Conduit St. Officers made contact with him, and he ultimately admitted to walking out of business without paying for the drinks.
Investigation revealed that he was an alcoholic struggling in rehab. Officer Sneed realized the man needed a break and paid his tab in full out of his pocket. After the payment was received, the establishment declined to pursue criminal charges.
Instead of placing the subject under arrest, Officer Sneed showed compassion and, without hesitation, paid the bill in full with his funds during this busy holiday season. For this reason, Officer Sneed is awarded Officer of the Month for December 2022. Congratulations!
