Annapolis is now on the hunt for a new planning and zoning director. City spokeswoman Mitchelle Stephenson confirms that Michael LaPlace wrapped up his tenure in the job after just 10 months to return to the Princeton, New Jersey area to where he last worked in a similar position. City council members discussed his leaving during committee meetings and acknowledged that it could be challenging to work in the Capital City with its problems with lawsuits and complaints against the authority that runs public housing, as well as the challenges of building new affordable workforce housing that meets the needs for adequate parking for residents and other issues.
