A month before those in the State House are scheduled to be done with their session, thousands of anti-abortion activists rallied near the Capital Building against democratic bills that seek to keep abortion legal in Maryland. Those opposed to abortion consider the fetus to be a living human being whose life is worth protecting.
The bills under consideration include, according to reports:
One that would protect patients and abortion care providers from criminal, legal, and administrative penalties brought by states with more restrictive laws; another that would require permission from patients before any medical records relating to abortion are released; and another one that would need to be passed by voter referendum next year to enshrine the right to an abortion as law in Maryland.
