The trial for the 31-year-old man who is accused of firing the deadly stray bullet that killed an incoming Midshipman's mom who was on the patio of the Graduate Hotel in the Pleasant Street shooting on June 29, 2021.
Friends say that 57-year-old Michelle Cummings, from Houston, was in Annapolis to help her son, Leonard “Trey” Cummings III, with induction day on The Yard.
At the time of the shooting Annapolis Police Chief Edward Jackson said it was almost inexplicable how the bullets, fired on Pleasant Street, by the suspect hit the elevated hotel patio. At that time multiple shots were fired on Pleasant Street, including at a parked car with two people in it, police said.
Police located Harrod at a Sunoco station near the Robinwood community. Officers arrested him on open warrants following a struggle. A month later the man was charged with firing the shot that killed Mrs. Cummings.
The trial is expected to last 15 days, and end on December 19, 2022.
