The city's Ethics Commission reprimands Annapolis Mayor Buckley over the docking of his private boat
Mayor Buckley should have recused himself when the City Council voted to deputize a personal boat as being used for official city business to retain docking rights at a dingy dock that restricted boats to a certain length.
The commission received a complaint this past July after the City Council voted to allow the Mayor's boat to keep its dock space.
The Commission also said that the City Council should have recognized its conflicts of interest when it voted to deputize the boat. Eye on Annapolis reports the reprimand issued is the “least onerous” sanction available and was issued to remind City officials about the importance of avoiding conflicts of interests.
