A proposal to pass a resolution against developing a portion of Greenbury Point Natural preserve into 18 more holes for the Navy's golf course didn't get enough votes. Alderman Rob Savidge, of the 7th Ward, said the resolution was needed because,
"From what I hear, Gladchuck is still planning on pursuing this project in the future. That's why I feel it's important for the City Council to speak up and get on the record as opposing this idea."
Mr. Savidge is referring to the President of the Naval Academy Golf Association Chet Gladchuck, who is in his 22nd year as President of the Naval Academy Athletic Association. Last month the Navy said it was no longer considering proposals to lease Greenbury Point.
The two no votes, according to The Capital were from Alderman Ross Arnett and DeJuan Gay.
