Maryland's Governor Hogan Issues a Statement about the Death of Queen Elizabeth

Governor Hogan, via Twitter, posted his thoughts about the passing of Britain's Queen Elizabeth.

Marylanders join the nation and the world in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II—an iconic and beloved leader whose long life of service commands immeasurable respect and admiration.

The BBC's World Service has dubbed her 70 + reign as "The Second Elizabethan Era."  Most people around the world do not remember a time when the Queen was not on the throne.  She is credited with working to make the monarchy more open to the people.  How many monarchs could say they did a spoof with James Bond to kick off an Olympics Game? She also appeared with Paddington Bear, enjoying an "emergency" marmalade sandwich, which she stored in one of her signature purses.
