The Annapolis City Council meets Monday night, July 11, 2022, at 7 p.m. There will be public hearings about how to use and apply for money from Sprinker and Electrical Assistance Revolving Funds. The idea is to explain how the city has already provided hookups to emergency water supplies that landlords and building owners can tap into to meet current sprinkler requirements. The goal is to make the spaces above shops and restaurants safer for people to occupy as residences. The Council will also consider using the funds for other fire suppression technology that property owners might prefer.
Comments will also be taken to approve leases for city-owned spaces at the Stanton Center, located at 92 West Washington Street. Also, the topic of how much additional time can be added to metered parking spaces. Also, the city wants to make some staffing changes, and how they are paid in the 2023 budget, to modify the assistant city manager position salary. It would create a new special projects/arts administration position and would change the number of days that temporary employees shall be employed. –This ordinance modifies the Assistant City Manager position salary from A14 to A18. The fiscal impact of the salaries and benefits for this position is $170,000, of which $141,000 was included in the FY2023 budget. It also creates a Special Projects/Arts Administrator exempt service position within the Mayor’s office, which will displace an existing contractual position.
There will be other matters discussed, such as waving some fees for those who wish to sell goods at certain City events in the coming years, the appointment and reappointment of members of city advisory committees, and also paying former City Manager David Jarrell back into a position he has previously held, that of Director of Public Works.
