Washington County Sheriff’s say that there are three people dead, and the shooter and a State Trooper injured in Smithsburg. The dead were found in the Columbia Machine plant, which makes machine moldings and repairs. The shooting reportedly happened at 2:30 in the afternoon. Sheriff’s Deputies say the shooter fled and state police encountered him on Maryland Route 66, about five miles from the manufacturing plant. Gunfire was exchanged. No information about the motive for the shooting is available.
