(Severn, MD) WNAV — The body of a deceased man, thought to be in his 60s, was recovered from the scene of a home fire in Severn.
Firefighters responded just after 11 p.m. Wednesday night to a fire in the 7900-block of Quarterfield Road. Officials say no working smoke detectors were found in the residence. The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
If the man died because of the fire, it will be the first deadly fire this year in Anne Arundel County. In 2020, there was one fatality from a home fire.
This weekend is “Spring Forward” for Daylight Savings Time overnight Saturday/to Sunday.
Safety officials say this is the time of year to check your escape plan in case of a fire at your home. And make sure your smoke detector is working.
