(Annapolis, MD) WNAV — Anne Arundel County school officials say an agreement has been reached to give full time county teachers a $1000 retention bonus. The first $500 is expected to be distributed in March and the final $500 payment is set for the end of the school year.
Officials say teachers have had a tremendous burden to educate our students in the last two years of the pandemic. Examples include having more students per class, covering other classes when no susbstitute teacher is available and a lack of their planning time.
The local teachers’ union leader says they have been negotiating for approval of the Memorandum of Understanding with the BOE and are pleased with the outcome.
