Thirty-six-year-old inmate Todd Holloway and 27-year-old inmate Irving Hernandez are facing time in federal prison after they complete their state sentence for the conspiracy to bring contraband inside prison walls. Fifteen other defendants—six outside facilitators, five prison employees, and four inmates—have also pleaded guilty. Seven defendants are awaiting sentencing and three defendants are pending trial.
It is part of the work of a state task force to end corruption in prison.
The scheme is an old, familiar theme: inmates bribe prison employees to bring in forbidden creature comforts. This investigation dates to 2017.
