(AMFM) has awarded $6,000 in grants to support two summer programs serving underserved youth in the greater Annapolis area. The funding, made possible through the organization’s David Glaser Education Grant, aims to expand access to high-quality music and theater education for local students.

The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra will receive funding to support its Summer Program, which provides musical education to students of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. The program includes weekly private lessons, ensemble rehearsals, guest artist workshops, and access to Annapolis Symphony performances, recitals, and concerts.

Compass Rose Theater will also receive a grant to support its Youth Theater Education program. The initiative offers theater arts education for children and teens, including summer camps, seasonal classes, and full-scale youth productions. The program places an emphasis on reaching students from underserved communities.

“We are so happy to continue honoring David Glaser’s legacy by supporting both of these local youth programs,” said PJ Thomas, president of AMFM’s board. “Creating opportunities for our next generation of musicians is the perfect way to honor David.”

In addition to the David Glaser Education Grant, AMFM supports youth through its Tim King Scholarship Fund, which awards a scholarship to a high school senior pursuing a college degree in music performance. The fund also provides subsidies for music lessons through local organizations.

AMFM is a nonprofit dedicated to providing financial relief to professional Annapolis musicians who are unable to work due to illness, injury, or other hardships. The organization raises funds through community donations and live music events featuring local talent.
